At this stage I have completed the trackwork and electrical for the first industrial town on the layout. The control panel is mounted and fully functional. The 4 throttles are operational as well for the few blocks of power that are available. Here are a few images of the final trackwork, control panel and the underside of the layout.

I have some great scenery ideas to implement into this small industrial town.

This is the entrance to the staging yard which is on the west end of town. There will be a double portal here with LED signal lights for the staging yard tracks.

This is the crossover on the west end right before entering the staging yard. This will allow a weigh freight to run around his consist when working the town and to allow either track (simulating east and west access to the Mainline) to access all six tracks in the staging yard.

This is the first of two control panels on this layout. Once labeled, this panel will be easier to understand. The rotating toggles at the bottom are to select which throttle is being used. The red switches above will apply power to that block to the selected throttle. The yellow push buttons will allow a train to access an occupied block to pull forward to clear the tailing turnout. This will mostly be used when an oncoming meet in scheduled. Of course all set routes are displayed with the LED lights.

The underside of this town is not all that complicated. A few switches for the turnouts, throttle power feeds and a few relays to control power and the LED’s. It will be nice to get the fascias on to hide all this and really clean this area up for scenery.
